Arequipa – Puno – Cusco (11 Days – 10 Nights)

This 10-day circuit includes visits in the city of Arequipa, Colca Valley, Puno, Lake Titicaca, Uros Island, Taquile Island, Cusco, Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Wonder of the Inca Culture Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arequipa – Visit Of The City And Convent Of Santa Catalina

Upon arrival in the city of Arequipa, reception and transfer to the chosen hotel. In the afternoon, visit of “The White City”, named for its architecture made on the basis of “Sillar” volcanic stone that abounds in the area; the tour starts when we pick you up from your hotel we will leave the historic center, on our tour we will see the Grau Bridge that is made based on Sillar we will appreciate the viewpoint of Carmen Alto where we will have a beautiful view of Arequipa we will observe its 3 tutelary volcanoes: the Chachani, the Misti and the Pichupichu also the Chili river and the pre-Inca terraces, excellent place to take pictures. We will visit the district of Yanahuara that has its lookout in the form of arcs based on Sillar, we will visit the church of San Juan Bautista that is built entirely from Sillar. Continuing with the tour we will visit the Incalpaca store, where we will be taught how to distinguish vicuña wool, alpaca and llama visiting their minizológico, then return to the city to visit Arequipa’s Plaza de Armas with its Cathedral and its three sets of portals made based on Sillar; continuing the tour we visited the Cloisters of the Church of La Compañia de Jesús, a beautiful example of baroque mestizo and baroque churrigueresque Spanish art, in the seventeenth century, ending at the Monastery of Santa Catalina, a religious tourist complex built in the sixteenth century, emblem of the city, in the pure style of different Spanish cities of the time. Return to the hotel at approximately 06:00.

Day 02: Arequipa – Chivay– Thermal   Baths – Show Folklorico.

We will pass by your Hotel at 07:30 am to start our tour, we will have a 2 hour tour through the town of Yura and the Aguada Blanca and Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, where we will appreciate many species of birds in their habitat, as well as As alpacas, vicuñas and llamas, arriving in Patahuasi we can use the hygienic services to refresh ourselves and take an infusion of coca (not included) before continuing our trip; We continue through the Pampa de Tocra where we find the bofedales which is a refuge for migratory birds, the bobo bird, the Andean duck, the black ibis, guayatas, etc., which if you are a bird lover you will be able to see and photograph them, We arrived at the Los Andes Viewpoint, which is 4910 meters above sea level, the highest point of our route. From there we descend to the town of Chivay at 3600 meters above sea level, we have lunch assistance and installation at the chosen Hotel. In the afternoon, at 16:30 we recommend going to La Calera to take an invigorating swim in the thermo medicinal waters, or if you wish to visit the ethnological museum of the Colcaguas and Los Cabanas colca cultures, we can also visit its suspension bridge , and the pre-inca terraces restored from this place, we return to Chivay at approximately 7:00 p.m. And at night we have reservations for a folkloric show with typical Colca dances or enjoy the comforts of the hotel. Day 03: Cruz Del Condor – Colca Canyon – Transfer To Puno.

Very early we will have breakfast before heading to the Colca Canyon and our destination will be the Cruz del Cóndor, where we will have a spectacular view of one of the deepest canyons in the world and if conditions permit, the great opportunity to make excellent photographic shots of the Largest and most impressive bird in the world: the majestic Condor. Depending on the schedule, we could make a stop in the town of Yanque to appreciate a sample of local folklore as it is known for its crafts. On the way back, you will visit the town of Pinchollo, the only pre-Inca town still inhabited, and the town of Maca, with its picturesque craft market and colonial church. Lunch in Chivay. After lunch at 1:00 pm we will board our mobility to go to the City of Puno; on the way we will reach the highest point of the route “El Mirador de los Andes” at 4900 m.s.n.m. where the view of the volcanoes and mountains is impressive continuing we will arrive at Pampa Cañahuas located in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve here we will find vicuñas, llamas and alpacas in their natural habitat and finally before reaching Puno we will see small and wonderful lakes that have been turned the home of the Andean Flamenco with luck we will be able to observe some, we will be arriving apuno approximately at 19:15 hours. Day 04: Titicaca Lake – Floating Islands Of Uros And Taquile.

In the morning, we will make a full day excursion on Lake Titicaca and visit as the first point the floating islands of the Uros, also called “The Village of the Lake” These islands are built with layers of totora and serve as homes and trade centers for the natives of the same name who move on handmade rafts. After walking in one of the boats we will continue our journey to the Taquile Island, where they keep alive their traditions, customs and colorful clothing in the old style. The islanders are skilled artisans and capture in each work surprising techniques developed over centuries by their ancestors. We will enjoy a delicious lunch made with the natural products of the area. Then we will return to Puno at approximately 5:00 p.m. (B, L).

Day 05: Puno – La Raya / Raqchi / Andahuaylillas  –  Cusco

They will pick us up from the hotel very early and we will go to the terminal where we will board our tourist bus to Cusco, it is one of the most spectacular trips to explore the “Andes”. We will visit Pucará, famous for its crafts and pottery, especially for the famous Pucara bulls. We will make a stop at “La Raya” natural boundary between Cusco and Puno, from where we will have excellent photographic views. We will also visit the archaeological center of Raqchi, known as the Temple of God Wiracocha and the church of Andahuaylillas, a beautiful 17th century church that has an impressive organ decorated with angels and cherubs. We will have lunch on the route arriving in Cusco at approximately 5:00 p.m. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 06: Cusco – Visit Of The City, Sacsayhuaman And Nearby Ruins.

Free morning to rest or perform any optional activity. In the afternoon, we will enjoy our visit to the impressive colonial city built on the bases of Inca palaces, we will begin our tour visiting the Qoricancha or Temple of the Sun where we can appreciate the fine work that the Incas made on the stone; continuing with the tour we will go to Sacsayhuamán, archaeological center with strategic location that offers an unparalleled view of the city. We will also appreciate Qenqo, Puca Pukara and Tambomachay. Then we will return to Cusco at approximately 7:00 p.m. (B)

Day 07: Sacred Valley Of The Incas – Pisac Market – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero.

After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel to head towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will make a stop on the way to have a classic view of the Urubamba River meandering through crop tapestries. We will arrive at the colorful market of Pisaq, where we will have free time to interact with the inhabitants and artisans, in addition to making purchases of beautiful handicrafts and souvenirs, then we will go up to the top of the mountain where we will find the archaeological center of Pisaq, impressive construction built in the Inca era, here we can see the great work achieved by the Incas through an endless number of agricultural terraces, aqueducts, roads, channeled water channels, cemeteries and bridges, which adorn all the mountains around them. We will continue to Urubamba where we will have lunch buffet at a local restaurant. Then we will visit Ollantaytambo, a town of Inca origin with remarkable canals and cobblestone streets. In the high part of the mountain is its religious center where the temple of the sun continues to project its grandeur. Finally we went to Chinchero, a town dedicated to the cultivation of potatoes and the production of magnificent handmade fabrics with ancestral techniques, they will show us how they obtain the colors of natural form of roots, leaves, fruits, etc. We will appreciate the development of these magnificent works. Return to the City of Cusco at approximately 7 pm. (B, L)

Day 08: Cusco – Aguas Calientes.

The tour starts in the morning, we go to the train station located in the town of Ollantaytambo (2 hours from Cusco). We board the train for the town of Aguas Calientes a journey of approximately 2 hours. It passes through a picturesque Andean landscape as are the traditional Villas, streams of crystal clear water, which form the Vilcanota River in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The train continues descending towards the Cloud Forest following the rapids of the Urubamba River, there are brief views of several Inca sites along the way. Finally, the train stops at Aguas Calientes, populated by Machu Picchu. Upon your arrival our collaborators will assist you to take you to the chosen accommodation (afternoon free) at night you will meet the guide at the Hotel de Machupicchu who will provide you with the information for your next day’s tour. Day 09: Machupicchu “The Lost City Of The Incas”.

Early we will go to the archaeological center of Machupicchu, the trip will be by bus approximately 30 minutes, the guide will be waiting for us at the entrance gate of the Machupicchu complex, the tour will be for an approximate time of 2 hours, then they will have free time (the park is open until 5:00 p.m.), in this free time you have the option to revisit the magnificent citadel on your own and if you wish you can climb the mountain of Huaynapicchu (If you booked in advance), after free time We will take the return bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch. We will have to be at the train station half an hour before as scheduled for the departure of our train, to return to Ollantaytambo, where we will be waiting for our transport to bring us back, we will be in Cusco at 10:30 a.m. Night in Cusco Hotel chosen. Day 10: Puno – Airport.
