Ausangate Trek (05 Days – 04 Nights)
This adventure option is recommended for people who enjoy walking through nature and feeling the energy of Mother Earth also called “Pachamama”. We will admire the gigantic mountains called “Apus” which are considered as Protector Gods and Regulators of the climate and is the most sacred mountain of this area. This walk will allow us to know how people live in the Andes, what are their customs, their traditions and thus learn from their lifestyle that is astonishing and interesting. We will also observe different types of Andean animals such as llamas, Alpacas, guanacos, etc.
Itinerary
DAY 01: CUSCO – OCONGATE – TINQUI – UPIS Very early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel, and we will board the bus (3 hours) to head to the village of OCONGATE. In this place we will start our trek towards the town of TINQUI (3,800 m.a.s.l.). Here we will have our first corresponding break for lunch. Then, we will continue our tour observing some snowy, local animals, and plants common at this altitude, until arriving at our first camp in the place denominated UPIS (4,140 m.a.s.l.). The tour lasts 7 hours approx. up to the camp.

Day 02: Upis – “Abra Arapa” After a well-deserved breakfast, we will start our second day of walking towards “ABRA ARAPA” (4,700 m.a.s.l.). This place is one of the most beautiful because the walk is not so arduous. The most extraordinary thing is that you will be able to observe imposing snow-capped peaks, as well as beautiful landscapes. Then we will arrive to our second camp at “ABRA ARAPA” where we will have our dinner. This tour lasts 6 hours approx.

Day 3: “Abra Arapa – Abra Campo” After another well-deserved breakfast, we wil begin our hike towards ABRA CAMPO (5,121 m.a.s.l.), this will be our next camp. During the tour, we will be able to appreciate majestic glaciers together with the Color Mountain or “Colored Hill/Cerro Colorado” that are above the plain. In the same way, we will have the opportunity to be able to observe many Andean camelids who live at these heights, a hard 8-hour tour.

Day 4: “Abra Campo – Pacchanta” On this day, our trek is not as exhausting as we will walk on a plain where we can enjoy the thermal baths in PACHANTA, in this place, we will be camping and we will have the opportunity to observe some communities that still maintain their customs in animal breeding.

Day 5: Pacchanta – Tinki – Cusco On The Last day of the trek, after our breakfast, we will continue our journey until we reach TINKI, where our bus will wait for us to return to the city of Cusco. During this trip, we will be able to appreciate many communities that still preserve their houses and ancestral customs.
