Inca Trail (5 Days / 4 Nights)

This variant of the classic Inca Trail for people who want to visit Machupicchu more calmly and can enjoy one of the most beautiful routes in the world, is a unique journey, the nature that surrounds it takes your breath away. With impressive views of snow-capped mountains, different altitudinal floors through the jungle eyebrow amidst surprising archaeological remains that embellish the landscape. The total trek is approximately 50 kilometers and takes 5 days, including a day of visit in the Archaeological Group of Machupicchu. It is an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO – PISQAYCUCHO – HUAYLLABAMBA

We will pick you up from your hotel to go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will stop in the town of Ollantaytambo to make last purchases, and then continue to Piscacucho or kilometer 82 of the railway to Machupicchu, where after registering with the authorities of the Machupicchu Historical Sanctuary we will begin our walk along this beautiful route surrounded of mountains on the banks of the Wilka Mayu River (Sacred River of the Incas) or the Urubamba River. Then we will take an uphill path through the mountains to explore the archaeological site of Llaqtapata, magnificent Inca construction, then we will walk this Inca route and stop at Tarayoq (2670 masl / 8761 ft), to enjoy our lunch and a short rest. We will start our hike again, along an uphill path bordering the mountains in the middle of a geography sculpted in granite rock. Finally we will arrive at our campsite in Huayllabamba, where we will enjoy our food and spend the night.

DAY 2: HUAYLLABAMBA – ABRA WARMI WAÑUSQA – PACAYMAYO

After a comfortable rest and a nutritious breakfast, we will begin our trek along the impressive Inca Trail, we will ascend to the highest point of this day, the Warmi Wañuska pass where we will feel closer to the sky of the Andes, then we will begin our descent by This magnificent paved road to reach the Pacaymayo camp. Here we have dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: PAQAYMAYO – ABRA RUNKURAQAY – PHUYUPATAMARKA

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will begin our journey to the archaeological site of Runkurakay, located in the middle of a stunning geography. We continue our way of ascent towards the Runkurakay abra, last challenge of height of our walk towards Machupicchu. We will enjoy this stretch of the Puna ecological floor, where the Ichu or tall grass predominates surrounding small Andean lagoons, we will observe Andean camelids as llamas and alpacas in their natural habitat

And we will descend to the archaeological sites of Sayaqmarka and Conchapata and then head to the Phuyupatamarka camp, enjoy our lunch, and take a break. After the break we can visit the Phuyupatamarka viewpoint (only 5 minutes away from the camp) and enjoy the sunset in the middle of snow-capped mountains. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: PHUYUPATAMARKA – WIÑAY WAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES

After breakfast we will visit the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarka with a rear view of the Machupicchu mountain, we will walk through this incredible Inca trail, we will find ourselves surrounded by vegetation typical of the high jungle of the eastern Andes of Peru. Our path will take us to the Wiñay Wayna sector, close to the archaeological site of Machupicchu. We will have a short break to continue on this road and reach the sector of Inti Punku and its magnificent first view of the legendary lost city of the Incas. We will cross Machupicchu to take our transport to the town of Aguas Calientes, where after hosting them in their respective hotels, we will enjoy a well-deserved rest.

DAY 5: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES

After breakfast, we will take our bus to the archaeological site of Machupicchu to begin our visit to this important historical sanctuary. The geography where the Inca citadel is located is located in the ecological floor of the cloud forest, we will observe the exceptional ability developed by the Incas to prevail in this difficult environment. Here we will observe one of the works in engineering more developed by the Incas, finding observatories, temples, water sources and solar watches; highlighting his fine stonework work with a wide variety of architectural styles.

After our visit, we will return to Aguas Calientes where we will have lunch and then board the train to Ollantaytambo Station, where our transportation will pick us up to go to your hotel in Cusco.
