South Valley Tour (Tipon – Pikillaqta – Andahuaylillas)
Cusco is an inexhaustible source of tourist attractions, we present another tourist circuit of South Valley Tour we will visit Tipon, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas, a strange conjunction of pre-Hispanic and Spanish remains, evidence of the cultural duality of the ancient capital of the Inca empire.
Itinerary
ITINERARY
We will pick you up from your hotel at 08:50 a.m. to have a guided tour in the southern valley where you can visit the following places.
Tipón: Archaeological group where we can appreciate the domain of hydraulic engineering in Inca times, you can observe an exceptional irrigation system, with vertical and horizontal irrigation channels on stepped terraces. Water flows from the subsoil to a source from which it is distributed through the channels mentioned. Tipón was a center of important agricultural production, today it is a charming place that has a fabulous system of platforms, in which the earth continues giving lavish fruits.
Pikillacta: Pre – Inca archaeological center, located 18 km south east of the Imperial city of Cusco, characterized by its levels of construction of stone, lime and gypsum, strangely baptized at the end of the colony with this Quechua term meaning “village of Fleas. ” It is said that Pikillacta at one time housed the famous Tiahuanaco Culture, it emphasizes in it its streets that form quadrants, double-storey buildings with stuccoed walls and paved floors. Initially Pikillacta was a satellite city of the Wari (centuries VI to XIII d.c.) an important civilization previous to the empire of the children of the Sun.
Andahuaylillas: Departing from Cusco to the south after a bus trip for 45 minutes, we arrive at the village of Andahuaylillas, a traditional village in whose main square is its proud colonial temple with admirable paintings of the Cusqueña school, known as “The Sistine Chapel of America” Beautiful baroque painting on ceiling and walls.
