Tour Titicaca Lake
Titicaca Lake is the highest navigable lake in the world at 3810 masl and the largest freshwater lake in Latin America. Known as Sacred Lake of the Incas, Lake Titicaca is a wonderful attraction for nature lovers, to enjoy an unforgettable view of the Cordillera Real de los Andes. This lake offers a varied fauna composed mainly of ducks, fish such as suche, pejerrey and trout, among others. Its flora is represented by 12 varieties of aquatic plants highlighting totora, yana llacho and duckweed.
The lake has 36 islands, among the most important are those of Taquile and Amantani, in Peruvian territory, and the islands of the Sun and Moon in Bolivian waters.
Itinerary
Tour Lake Titicaca Floating Islands Uros and Taquile FD
Upon arrival at the Puno terminal, our staff will be waiting for you to transfer them to our offices where you can leave your luggage and enjoy a delicious breakfast (not included). After breakfast transfer to the main port Puno, where we will board a motor boat. Motor boat trip to the Uros Floating Islands (45 min), also called “The Lake Town” these islands are built with layers of totora and serve as homes and trading centers for natives of the same name as They are mobilized in rafts built by hand. We bid farewell to the Uros to continue the trip to Taquile Island (2hrs and 50 min of boat trip). Arrival in Taquile, where the community kindly welcomes tourists, keeping alive their traditions, customs and colorful clothing in the old style. The islanders are skilled artisans and capture in each work surprising techniques developed over centuries by their ancestors. We will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared with products from the area. Finally we arrived at the port of the island to board our motor boat to return us to the main port of Puno arriving at approximately 4:00 pm. Free afternoon in Puno to get to know the city. Then we will go to the terminal to board our bus that will bring us back to the City of Cusco.
